ETHOS

Inspired by Carl Jung’s concepts of thinking, intuition, feeling, and sensing, along with Schumacher College’s Head, Hands, and Heart approach, we nurture a comprehensive understanding of landscapes. Our work encourages a Slow, Small, Simple, and Beautiful way of being, fostering a profound connection with nature that goes beyond mere education.

We value interdisciplinary approaches, recognizing that the complexity of landscapes requires diverse perspectives. Our methods draw from ecological design thinking, architecture, holistic science, and more, creating a rich tapestry of knowledge that informs our work. This holistic approach aims to empower people to make informed decisions about landscape design and environmental stewardship.

Collaboration is essential to our practice. We actively seek partnerships with experts, communities, and enthusiasts to co-create knowledge and engagements. This collaborative spirit extends to our educational offerings, where we encourage open dialogue and shared learning experiences.

FOUNDERS

ALL BEINGS

Land Insight honours all the humans and more-than-humans who have inspired its creation. Hence, we are calling them Co-Founders in this honour and respect. Each has uniquely contributed, embodying the spirit of co-creation central to our mission. From ancient landscapes’ wisdom to ecological design thinkers’ innovations, these co-founders have shaped our journey. Their diverse insights enrich our community, fostering a holistic approach to ecological design. By honouring these more-than-human co-founders, we acknowledge their essential role in our vision, inspiring us to listen to the land and strive for a respectful, holistic way of living and designing.

CHAITALI CHAUDHARI

Chaitali Chaudhari, a graduate of Schumacher College’s MA in Ecological Design Thinking, integrates the liveliness of the land into design processes. Her dissertation on the Goethean Approach to Architecture significantly influences Land Insight’s ethos. The Goethean approach fosters holistic perception by engaging observers actively in the process, encouraging observations of form-process relationships, and allowing deeper connections and meanings to emerge through heightened awareness.

Chaitali completed her B.Arch. degree from Pillai College of Architecture. Her experience as a Vernacular Eco-Architecture Intern at Dharmalaya Institute involved hands-on natural building and community living. At Anantgram Farms, she focused on regenerative projects merging traditional practices with modern ecological design. Her fellowship at the Institute of Relational Being is a foundation stone for creation of Land Insight. Chaitali’s work exemplifies empathy, sensitivity, and community-driven ecological engagement, aiming to inspire and educate others on integrating ecological principles into everyday practices through Land Insight.

ROOTS

Land Insight draws inspiration from pioneers in ecological work, honouring the roots of institutions like Schumacher College, UK, renowned for holistic ecological education. The Institute of Relational Being underscores the interconnectedness of life forms, shaping Land Insight’s ethos of community and ecological being. Dharmalaya Institute, nestled in the Himalayas, champions sustainable living through traditional wisdom and practical education in natural building and permaculture, deeply influencing our approach. Anantgram Farms in Andhra Pradesh, dedicated to regenerative agriculture and permaculture design, also serves as an inspiration for our vision.

Grateful for these visionaries, we at Land Insight endeavour to perpetuate their roots, fostering holistic present and futures grounded in respect for nature and a mindful relationship with all-beings.
